Project Snapshot
Garvey Resources recently conducted an efficiency analysis of the Dover Township Pa. Wastewater Treatment Facility. This facility has a design capacity of 8 mgd, and uses oxidation ditches to provide the required treatment. The plant is valued at $28 million, and is designed to provide nutrient removal. Sludge is aerobically digested and the belt filter cake is land applied. Garvey Resource team members were Diane Garvey and Mike Nelson. Steps in the analysis included review of background information, plant interviews, and report preparation. The report provided findings, recommendations and action items. Over thirty recommendations were developed. These recommendations covered areas including: Institutional; Revenue; Management; Process; Maintenance Management; and Training. The report provides a framework for continuous improvement of the Dover Township Wastewater Utility Operation. Plant management is currently in the process of prioritizing the recommendations and developing implementation plans. Conservative estimates of identified annual savings are in the $25,000 range.
